Forest Management Plan

A forest management plan is a necessity

The forest management plan is one of the most important documents for the forest owner. The forest plan not only determines the current value of your forest but gives you instructions for the next 10 years: what work to organize, how to carry out the logging work and what to do for reforestation. Based on a forest management plan, you can make wise decisions that will allow you to take the best out of your forest both today and in the next decades.

A forest management plan is an overview of forest resources and status with an indicative 10-year action plan for the management of a particular property.

Forest plans may be prepared and approved by the Environmental Board only by forest management companies with a state activity license. Forest managers or taxators are independent parties who must successfully pass a professional examination and do test work.

Forest Management plan sets out the stock of the growing forest, the main tree species, limitations, the assortment, habitat and the density of the stand. The plan is not an appraisal report of real estate, and taxators do not give their own assessment of the property but submit its objective inventory.

This inventory is a necessary reference point for calculating the exact price of forest property because it allows us to calculate the value of the assortment with the accuracy of a cubic meter. For example, a mature coarse conifer log is worth significantly more than a deciduous sapling; in the case of cutting a forest growing on swampy ground, the costs are higher, because management requires waiting for suitable weather conditions and usage of proper machinery.
